The combined observations show that these species brood their young for 2-4 weeks and then release them as first instars. These juveniles, over a period of 2-4 Skogsbergia lerneri is a marine cypridinid ostracode that is distributed widely throughout the Caribbean. A morphological and mitochondrial study of Skogsbergia from the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico confirmed the existence of a separate cryptic species, S. crenulata, described by Poulsen in 1962.
